From downtown Hartford

Security built for an insurance, legal and healthcare town.

Hartford’s business district is dense with the kinds of organizations attackers like: insurers and financial firms, law practices, healthcare groups and the vendors that serve them. EVERNET builds security for those obligations in three steps from our Pearl Street office: assess what matters, strengthen access, devices and habits, and prepare for the day something gets through.

Assess

A scoped cybersecurity risk assessment identifies critical systems and control gaps and produces prioritized action items with owners and next steps. It is the usual starting point and does not require a managed agreement.

Strengthen

Email advanced threat protection, antivirus and endpoint detection and response, ransomware and zero-day defense, patch management, corporate password management, multifactor authentication and ongoing security awareness training.

Prepare

Backup and disaster recovery, business continuity planning, incident response procedures and documentation for cyber-insurance questionnaires and industry compliance, with monitoring and incident response defined separately in your agreement.

Security is most often bundled with managed IT in Hartford. See the cybersecurity service, risk assessment, security awareness training and pricing, or the statewide Connecticut cybersecurity page.

Doing business in Hartford

Hartford’s insurers work under one of the more detailed state security laws. Connecticut’s insurance data security law, Public Act 19-117, covers every company licensed by the Insurance Department. It required a written information security program by October 1, 2020, oversight of third-party service providers by October 1, 2021, and an incident response plan. The Insurance Commissioner can fine up to $50,000 per violation. Agencies, brokers and adjusters downtown are licensees too, not just the large carriers.

Everyone else in the city works under the general rules. Conn. Gen. Stat. §36a-701b requires notice to affected residents within 60 days of discovering a breach, and to the Attorney General no later than that. Public Act 21-119 bars punitive damages for businesses that follow a written program aligned with NIST, ISO 27000 or the CIS Controls. We help Hartford firms meet both: a risk assessment, a written program mapped to one framework, vendor reviews, and an incident plan you have rehearsed before you need it. See cybersecurity risk assessment.

What to work through.

Where Hartford businesses usually start.

Email threat protection

Advanced filtering and phishing prevention on the inbox, which is where most incidents still begin.

Endpoint detection and response

Antivirus with EDR on every workstation and server, plus device health monitoring that runs 24/7/365.

Security awareness training

Ongoing, subscription-based training and simulated phishing so staff recognize the attack before they click.

Access and passwords

Multifactor authentication, corporate password management and access reviews when people join, change roles or leave.

Compliance preparation

HIPAA-aligned delivery for healthcare, privacy-sensitive patterns for legal, accounting and financial services, and documentation for insurers and auditors.

Vendor and third-party exposure

Vendor management that reduces the risk introduced by the software, phone and cloud providers you already depend on.

It is difficult to put into a review just how much we have valued this partnership. They have gone far beyond being a vendor to the Tarrant County Bar Association — they have become genuine supporters of our organization and the work we do. They have worked with us on everything from building our public-facing legal help website to guiding us through a complete rebranding and logo redesign. With every project, they take the time to understand our organization, our members, our mission, and what we are actually trying to accomplish rather than simply delivering a product. But what has impressed me most is how invested they have become in our success. They show up. They attend our events. They celebrate our wins. They bring us new ideas and look for ways they can help. When we work with them, it truly feels like we have another team in our corner. Our Bar Association is better because of this relationship, and I don't say that lightly. They have consistently gone above and beyond for us, and I am incredibly grateful for the creativity, responsiveness, enthusiasm, and genuine care they bring to everything they do. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

EVERNET has played a pivotal role in our business growth. They have been a fantastic partner over the last year, doing everything from rebuilding our website to managing our IT difficulties to improving our internal processes. They took care of a lot of the headaches that come with small business ownership, which allowed me to focus on doing the work I love and getting more clients through the door. If your business needs help in marketing, IT, or security, I cannot recommend them enough.

Questions before you get started.

We have never had a security review. Where do we start?

With a scoped risk assessment. It produces a prioritized list of actions with owners, and it does not require a managed agreement.

Does monitoring include incident response?

They are separate activities. Monitoring runs continuously; incident response and its limits are defined explicitly in the governing agreement.

Can EVERNET certify us as HIPAA or SOC 2 compliant?

No. EVERNET prepares and supports; certification and audit sign-off come from accredited third parties.

Do you do penetration testing?

Penetration testing and red-team engagements are scoped separately rather than included by default.

Can you meet in person?

Yes. We are at 100 Pearl Street; assessments and reviews can be run on-site or remotely.
