Microsoft Outlook notifications and reminders can be helpful, but others can be annoying. Have you wondered how to disable Outlook reminders?
Microsoft uses artificial intelligence (AI) and its algorithm to decide when you might have a message to respond to, so it sets a reminder at the top of your inbox list. You’re able to mark it as useful or not so that the algorithm can learn what reminders you want to see.
There’s also a dismiss reminder, that should just remove entirely. Sometimes, the ‘Dismiss’ button stops working and the Outlook Web Message Reminder Dismiss will stop working, and the reminder just won’t go away.
The usual tricks didn’t seem to work:
- Trying a new browser
- Clearing browser cache
Luckily, there are plenty of Outlook options, so finally, we went with a setting in Outlook for disabling the feature until Microsoft gets them working again. If you’re having the same trouble, we’re here to help with this helpful tip to get rid of these reminders – especially if you’re getting frustrated with constantly seeing them.
In the first screenshot, you’ll see the reminder here. You’ve received this message, do you want to reply?
If your ‘Dismiss Reminder’ isn’t working, you’ll see in the second screenshot, the message remains. You could delete the email, but what if it is an email you want to keep?
We’ll show you how to access thissetting in Outlook to disable these reminders.
Here’s How To Disable Web Message Inbox Reminders
Step 1:
Click the ‘View’ Menu and then ‘View Settings. That will display your Outlook settings options.
Step 2:
Your ‘Mail’ settings are the default choice, and the one you want to have chosen for you in this instance.
Step 3:
Ensure ‘Layout’ is selected, as it should be since it’s the default option. Scroll through the options until you get to ‘Message Reminders’ at the bottom. It will be the second to last option, as pictured below.
Step 4:
If you want to disable the reminders, click ‘Don’t show message reminders’ and they will disappear.
As you can see, besides disabling message reminders, there are a number of ways to customize your Outlook experience.
