Knoxville Bar Association: Campaign
Make legal-community event promotion consistent while accommodating changing speakers and dates.
Design approach
An event message that holds together
The Knoxville Bar Association wanted its legal-community event promotion to look consistent, even though speakers, topics and dates change from one event to the next. For Law Day, that meant two companion graphics: one to announce the event and one to feature the speaker. The brief on this page was to keep the event identity recognizable across both pieces while giving each one room for its most important information.
The artwork shows both graphics on a warm cream background. The announcement uses a deep red side bar, the association logo and a scales-of-justice mark above a bold navy headline for the Law Day Luncheon & CLE, followed by the date, time and venue. A map of the United States filled with a flag pattern sits beside the theme, “Cornerstones of Democracy,” in red script. The companion graphic keeps the same red bar, logo and navy type but gives more space to the speaker’s portrait, the title of the talk, the CLE credit note and the theme words Civics, Civility and Collaboration.
1. Keep the event identity recognizable across both pieces.
2. Lead the announcement with the event name, date and logistics.
3. Give the companion graphic more space for the speaker and topic.

Why it works
Shared visual cues keep the campaign recognizable while each piece gives its most important information enough space.
The deliverable is a pair of companion Law Day graphics covering the event announcement and the featured speaker. The announcement leads with the event name, date and logistics so members can save the date. The speaker graphic follows with the topic and credit details that help members decide to attend. Because both share the same color bar, logo and type, the association can use them together or separately and they still read as one event, even when only one of them is seen.
