Mississippi Association for Justice: Editorial

Give association stories, member information and long-form legal content a coherent publication structure.

Mississippi Association for Justice

Design approach

A magazine for a professional community

The Mississippi Association for Justice publishes Voir Dire, a magazine that brings association stories, member information and long-form legal content together. Those are very different kinds of reading, and the publication needs a structure that holds them in one place. The brief on this page was to keep the established Voir Dire masthead recognizable, pair a strong photographic cover with disciplined contents and interior navigation, and maintain hierarchy across dense text and recurring member information.

The artwork shows a cover and its table of contents on a deep teal background. The cover keeps the large serif Voir Dire masthead with the association name above it, laid over a bright outdoor photograph of a family and their dog on a lawn in front of a white columned house. The contents page uses the same serif masthead at a smaller size, a narrow sidebar column of section listings and a clear “Table of Contents” heading over the main list of articles and page numbers. The cover invites browsing, while the contents page gives readers a quick way into longer pieces.

1. Keep the established Voir Dire masthead recognizable.

2. Pair a strong photographic cover with disciplined contents and interior navigation.

3. Maintain hierarchy across dense text and recurring member information.

Why it works
A strong photographic cover and disciplined interior hierarchy support both browsing and sustained reading.

The deliverable is a 44-page Voir Dire design that brings long-form legal content, member information and association stories into one publication. The cover and masthead keep the magazine recognizable to readers who know it. The table of contents and interior navigation help them find a specific article or section, and a consistent hierarchy keeps dense legal articles readable alongside recurring member pages. Together, the pieces support both quick browsing and sustained reading in the same issue. Explore our graphic design services.
