New London County Bar Association: Identity & Website

Give a county bar association a recognizable identity and an organized member-and-public-facing web presence.

New London County Bar Association

Design approach

A coastal identity, carried into a website

The New London County Bar Association needed a recognizable identity and an organized web presence for both members and the public. A county bar serves lawyers, residents looking for help and community partners, so the identity had to feel local and the website had to separate those audiences clearly. The brief on this page combined maritime cues with a legal symbol and carried the identity into membership, referral and community-program content.

The artwork shows the final logo and an archival website proof on a deep navy background. The square logo places a scales-of-justice symbol inside a circle with compass points and a wave beneath it, above the association name set in a classic serif. A horizontal version shows the same mark beside the name for wider spaces. The website proof uses navy throughout, with sections for Become a Member, Lawyer Referral Service and the Lawyers in Libraries community program, each paired with photography. The logo’s navy carries directly into the site’s headers and panels.

1. Combine maritime cues with a legal symbol in the logo family.

2. Provide stacked and horizontal signatures with positive and reversed variants.

3. Carry the navy identity into membership, referral and community-program sections.

EVERNET team; Nathan Cheatham, creative direction

Why it works
Maritime and legal cues create a local identity, carried through membership, referral and community-program content.

The deliverable is a coordinated logo family and website design. Stacked and horizontal signatures, each with positive and reversed versions, let the association use the mark on light or dark backgrounds and in tall or wide spaces. The website then applies the same navy identity to its main audiences: lawyers considering membership, residents looking for a referral and people interested in community programs. The identity and the site reinforce each other wherever the association appears. Learn about our logo design services.
