Westchester County Bar Association: Editorial

Support a recurring bar-association magazine with consistent editorial hierarchy and digital production.

Westchester County Bar Association

Design approach

A publication system that repeats well

The Westchester County Bar Association publishes Westchester Lawyer as a recurring magazine, and each issue mixes member announcements, long articles and association information. A publication like this needs a system that repeats well from issue to issue. The brief on this page called for a recognizable masthead and issue navigation, repeatable layouts that balance different kinds of content, and a path into digital distribution and an organized archive.

The artwork shows a cover and an interior spread, with the caption “Cover → interior → digital edition.” The cover uses a deep blue background with soft points of light, the Westchester Lawyer masthead in large white serif capitals and the association’s logo. Event headlines are set in white and gold, with portrait photographs placed beside them. The interior spread opens a column from the association’s leadership, with a portrait and blue header band at the top and article text set in three tidy columns across both pages. The cover is bold and promotional, while the interior is calm and built for reading.

1. Use a recognizable masthead and issue navigation.

2. Balance member announcements, long articles and association information in repeatable layouts.

3. Carry the publication into digital distribution and an organized archive.

Why it works
Consistent contents, article hierarchy and member-information layouts help readers navigate each issue in print and digital formats.

The deliverable is a 32-page Westchester Lawyer issue and a repeatable production system for the association’s monthly publication. The masthead and cover format make each issue recognizable, while consistent contents, article hierarchy and member-information layouts give the editorial team a dependable template to fill rather than a new design each month. The publication also carries into a digital edition and an organized archive, so readers can find a current or past issue in print or online. Explore our graphic design services.
