Across Connecticut

Security that connects tools, people and responsibilities.

Connecticut’s economy runs on information: insurance and financial firms, law practices, healthcare, manufacturers with supply-chain obligations, and a growing bioscience sector. Each handles data that clients, regulators and insurers expect to be protected. EVERNET builds security around those obligations in three steps: assess what matters, strengthen access, devices and habits, and prepare for the day something gets through.

Assess

A scoped cybersecurity risk assessment identifies critical systems and control gaps and produces prioritized action items with owners and next steps, not a tool list. It is the usual starting point for an organization that does not yet know where it stands.

Strengthen

Email advanced threat protection and phishing prevention, antivirus and endpoint detection and response, ransomware and zero-day defense, patch management, corporate password management, multifactor authentication and security awareness training for staff.

Prepare

Backup and disaster recovery, business continuity planning, incident response procedures and documentation that supports cyber-insurance questionnaires and industry compliance. Monitoring and incident response are defined separately in your agreement, with clear escalation.

Security is most often bundled into a managed IT agreement, but it is also available as a standalone recurring program, a one-time assessment or a project. See the cybersecurity service, risk assessment and pricing, or the local pages for Hartford and Stamford and Fairfield County.

Doing business in Connecticut

Connecticut gives businesses a concrete reason to write their security program down. Public Act 21-119, in effect since October 1, 2021, bars courts from awarding punitive damages in a data breach lawsuit when the business kept a written cybersecurity program that conforms to a recognized framework, such as NIST, the ISO 27000 series or the CIS Critical Security Controls, and actually followed it. Gross negligence is not covered.

The other rules are just as specific. Under Conn. Gen. Stat. §36a-701b you must notify affected residents within 60 days of discovering a breach, notify the Attorney General no later than that, and offer 24 months of identity theft protection when Social Security numbers are exposed. Insurance licensees, a large group in this state, also answer to Connecticut’s insurance data security law, which requires a written information security program and an incident response plan. We map your controls to one framework, keep the evidence current and rehearse the response, so the paperwork matches what happens on your network. Read more about our cybersecurity services.

What to work through.

Where Connecticut businesses usually start.

Email threat protection

Advanced filtering and phishing prevention on the inbox, which is where most Connecticut incidents still begin.

Endpoint detection and response

Antivirus with EDR on every workstation and server, plus device health monitoring that runs 24/7/365.

Security awareness training

Ongoing, subscription-based training and simulated phishing so staff recognize the attack before they click.

Access and passwords

Multifactor authentication, corporate password management and access reviews when people join, change roles or leave.

Compliance preparation

HIPAA-aligned delivery for healthcare, privacy-sensitive patterns for legal, accounting and financial services, and the documentation insurers and auditors ask for, including cyber-insurance questionnaires.

Vendor and third-party exposure

Vendor management that reduces the risk introduced by the software, phone and cloud providers you already depend on.

It is difficult to put into a review just how much we have valued this partnership. They have gone far beyond being a vendor to the Tarrant County Bar Association — they have become genuine supporters of our organization and the work we do. They have worked with us on everything from building our public-facing legal help website to guiding us through a complete rebranding and logo redesign. With every project, they take the time to understand our organization, our members, our mission, and what we are actually trying to accomplish rather than simply delivering a product. But what has impressed me most is how invested they have become in our success. They show up. They attend our events. They celebrate our wins. They bring us new ideas and look for ways they can help. When we work with them, it truly feels like we have another team in our corner. Our Bar Association is better because of this relationship, and I don't say that lightly. They have consistently gone above and beyond for us, and I am incredibly grateful for the creativity, responsiveness, enthusiasm, and genuine care they bring to everything they do. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

EVERNET has played a pivotal role in our business growth. They have been a fantastic partner over the last year, doing everything from rebuilding our website to managing our IT difficulties to improving our internal processes. They took care of a lot of the headaches that come with small business ownership, which allowed me to focus on doing the work I love and getting more clients through the door. If your business needs help in marketing, IT, or security, I cannot recommend them enough.

Questions before you get started.

We have never had a security review. Where do we start?

With a scoped risk assessment. It produces a prioritized list of actions with owners, and it does not require a managed agreement.

Does monitoring include incident response?

They are separate activities. Monitoring runs continuously; incident response and its limits are defined explicitly in the governing agreement so nothing is assumed.

Can EVERNET certify us as HIPAA or SOC 2 compliant?

No. EVERNET prepares and supports; certification and audit sign-off come from accredited third parties. A tool or service alone is not proof of compliance.

Do you do penetration testing?

Penetration testing and red-team engagements are scoped separately rather than included by default.

Will this slow our people down?

Good security is mostly invisible day to day. We agree the controls, explain the ones staff will notice, such as multifactor authentication, and train for them.

How much does a cybersecurity risk assessment cost?

It is scoped as a fixed-fee project. The price depends on the number of users, devices and locations, the systems in scope and whether a compliance framework such as HIPAA applies. You get the scope and price before work starts; current rates are on our pricing page.
