Across Connecticut

Accessibility handled as a technical review, not a scare tactic.

Connecticut towns, school districts and public agencies face ADA Title II web requirements, and private businesses face a steady rise in ADA website lawsuits. EVERNET runs accessibility as engineering work from Hartford: define a scope, test it properly, fix the design system first, and keep new pages from reintroducing old problems.

Accessibility audit

Automated scanning for common failures such as missing alt text, then manual testing with keyboards and screen readers for what scanners miss: focus order, unclear labels, inaccessible menus and dialogs. Each finding is mapped to a WCAG criterion with severity and a recommended fix.

ADA website compliance remediation

Fixes applied to templates and the design system before individual pages, accessible PDFs and documents, an accessibility statement, and an accessibility widget where it adds visitor controls on top of an accessible site rather than instead of one.

Keep it that way

Managed website support that checks new pages, guides for your content team on alt text and headings, and periodic re-testing as the site grows.

Doing business in Connecticut

Connecticut’s 169 towns, its school districts and its regional agencies each publish their own websites, forms and documents, and all of them fall under the Department of Justice’s ADA Title II web rule. In April 2026 the Department extended the compliance dates: public entities serving 50,000 or more people now have until April 26, 2027, and smaller ones until April 26, 2028. The technical standard did not change. It is still WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

Private businesses fall under Title III of the ADA, which has no technical standard written into regulation for websites, but WCAG 2.1 AA is the benchmark most audits use. For a Connecticut law firm, medical practice or retailer, the practical work looks the same as for a town: test the templates and components, fix the patterns that repeat on every page, caption media, check PDFs, and keep new content from bringing problems back. We document what was tested and when, which gives your counsel something concrete to review. See website accessibility services.

What to work through.

Where a web accessibility consultant usually starts.

Scope the audit

Which templates, key user journeys, forms and documents represent the site, so the accessibility audit covers what matters without testing every page identically.

Automated plus manual testing

Scanners for the obvious, people with keyboards and screen readers for the rest.

Design system first

Fix the header, navigation, forms and components once and the whole site improves.

Documents

Accessible PDFs for agendas, minutes, forms and reports that public bodies publish every week.

Statement and process

An accessibility statement, a feedback route and a plan for ongoing conformance.

Municipal timelines

ADA Title II website compliance deadlines for Connecticut towns and districts, with a scope sized to budget and the pages the public actually uses.

It is difficult to put into a review just how much we have valued this partnership. They have gone far beyond being a vendor to the Tarrant County Bar Association — they have become genuine supporters of our organization and the work we do. They have worked with us on everything from building our public-facing legal help website to guiding us through a complete rebranding and logo redesign. With every project, they take the time to understand our organization, our members, our mission, and what we are actually trying to accomplish rather than simply delivering a product. But what has impressed me most is how invested they have become in our success. They show up. They attend our events. They celebrate our wins. They bring us new ideas and look for ways they can help. When we work with them, it truly feels like we have another team in our corner. Our Bar Association is better because of this relationship, and I don't say that lightly. They have consistently gone above and beyond for us, and I am incredibly grateful for the creativity, responsiveness, enthusiasm, and genuine care they bring to everything they do. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

EVERNET has played a pivotal role in our business growth. They have been a fantastic partner over the last year, doing everything from rebuilding our website to managing our IT difficulties to improving our internal processes. They took care of a lot of the headaches that come with small business ownership, which allowed me to focus on doing the work I love and getting more clients through the door. If your business needs help in marketing, IT, or security, I cannot recommend them enough.

Questions before you get started.

Is an accessibility audit a certification?

No. An audit is a technical review, not a legal opinion or a certification, and there is no official ADA certification for websites.

Will an accessibility widget make us compliant?

Widgets are a layer on top of an accessible site, not a substitute. Automated tools cannot guarantee WCAG conformance.

Which standard should a WCAG audit target?

WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the reference most ADA website compliance requirements point to; we explain where 2.2 differs and when it matters for you.

Do you work with towns and school districts?

Yes. Connecticut municipalities and public entities preparing for ADA Title II are a core part of this service, including PDF and document remediation.

What does website accessibility cost?

It depends on the number of templates, journeys and documents in scope and whether remediation is included. Audits can be quoted without a managed agreement.
