Networks for Massachusetts offices

A network someone owns, documents and watches.

Massachusetts businesses range from Boston’s professional firms and Cambridge’s life sciences companies to manufacturers along Route 128 and I-495 and the colleges, hospitals and family-owned companies of Worcester, Springfield, Quincy and the South Shore.

Office networks fail quietly: an unmanaged switch, a firewall nobody has updated, guest Wi-Fi on the same segment as the finance team. EVERNET designs, installs and supports business networks for Massachusetts offices, documents them properly and monitors them as part of a managed agreement, so problems are found before staff notice.

Design and installation

Firewalls, switching, structured cabling coordination, Wi-Fi coverage and segmentation for offices, labs and shop floors.

Remote access and multi-site

Secure remote access for staff, site-to-site connections and cloud connectivity, with multifactor authentication throughout.

Monitoring and documentation

Device monitoring, configuration backups, firmware updates and documentation your team and vendors can rely on.

Network support is part of managed IT and pairs with cybersecurity. For current services and rates, explore pricing.

Doing business in Massachusetts

Connectivity in Massachusetts is uneven. Offices inside Route 128 and along I-495 often have a choice of fiber and cable providers, while parts of central and western Massachusetts have depended on public projects to get service at all. The Massachusetts Broadband Institute, a division of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, runs the MassBroadband 123 network serving more than 120 communities in the western and central parts of the state, and funds last-mile networks in towns that private carriers passed by.

That shapes how we design a network for a Massachusetts office. A firm in Pittsfield or Greenfield may need a second circuit from a different provider, or cellular backup, before it can rely on cloud phones and Microsoft 365. Winter matters too: nor’easters bring power outages, so firewalls, switches and modems should sit on battery backup. Businesses with offices in Boston and Worcester or Springfield get site-to-site VPNs and the same firewall rules everywhere. Offices that keep personal information on Massachusetts residents also need the firewall protection and current security patches that 201 CMR 17.00 requires, and we document both.

What to work through.

Where Massachusetts network work usually starts.

Firewall and perimeter security

Business-grade firewalls with current firmware, filtered rules, logging and a documented change process.

Wi-Fi and switching

Coverage surveys, access points, managed switches and VLANs that separate staff, guests, devices and voice.

Remote access

VPN or zero-trust access with MFA, device checks and logging, replacing shared passwords and open ports.

Internet and vendor coordination

ISP selection, failover, and coordination with phone, security camera and building vendors.

Monitoring and alerts

Uptime and performance monitoring with alerts routed to the help desk, and regular reporting.

Office moves and build-outs

Network planning for new offices and renovations, coordinated with contractors and landlords.

It is difficult to put into a review just how much we have valued this partnership. They have gone far beyond being a vendor to the Tarrant County Bar Association — they have become genuine supporters of our organization and the work we do. They have worked with us on everything from building our public-facing legal help website to guiding us through a complete rebranding and logo redesign. With every project, they take the time to understand our organization, our members, our mission, and what we are actually trying to accomplish rather than simply delivering a product. But what has impressed me most is how invested they have become in our success. They show up. They attend our events. They celebrate our wins. They bring us new ideas and look for ways they can help. When we work with them, it truly feels like we have another team in our corner. Our Bar Association is better because of this relationship, and I don't say that lightly. They have consistently gone above and beyond for us, and I am incredibly grateful for the creativity, responsiveness, enthusiasm, and genuine care they bring to everything they do. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

EVERNET has played a pivotal role in our business growth. They have been a fantastic partner over the last year, doing everything from rebuilding our website to managing our IT difficulties to improving our internal processes. They took care of a lot of the headaches that come with small business ownership, which allowed me to focus on doing the work I love and getting more clients through the door. If your business needs help in marketing, IT, or security, I cannot recommend them enough.

Questions before you get started.

Do you install network equipment on site across Massachusetts?

EVERNET is based in Hartford, Connecticut, about 100 miles from Boston. Day-to-day support is remote; on-site visits across Massachusetts are scheduled when hands-on work is needed and confirmed during scoping.

Can you work with our existing firewall and switches?

Usually, yes. We review what is in place, bring it under management and recommend replacement only where equipment is unsupported or unsafe.

Do you handle cabling?

We design and coordinate structured cabling with licensed low-voltage contractors and verify the result.

Is network support included in managed IT?

Yes for monitoring, configuration and support. New equipment and build-outs are quoted as projects.

How do you document the network?

Diagrams, device inventories, credentials in a password manager and configuration backups, shared with your team.
