Accessibility for New York

Findings mapped to criteria, fixed in priority order.

New York’s businesses stretch from Manhattan and the outer boroughs to Long Island’s suburbs, the Hudson Valley and the upstate cities of Albany, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo, each with its own mix of professional firms, manufacturers, healthcare and higher education.

Accessibility work for New York organizations usually starts with a question from legal counsel, a demand letter or a public-entity deadline. EVERNET audits the site with automated and manual testing, maps every finding to a WCAG 2.1 AA criterion, fixes issues in priority order and documents the result with an accessibility statement and monitoring, so the answer to the next question is a report rather than a scramble.

Audit

Automated scans plus manual keyboard and screen reader testing of key pages, forms and documents.

Remediation

Fixes in WordPress, Elementor and custom code, accessible PDFs and training for content editors.

Statement and monitoring

An accessibility statement, a feedback channel and periodic re-testing as the site changes.

Doing business in New York

New York is one of the busiest states for accessibility claims. An annual count of federal ADA Title III lawsuits ranked New York third among states in 2025, with 1,471 filings covering both physical and digital access, and noted that stricter standing rulings in New York federal courts have pushed more website plaintiffs toward state courts. State law adds its own layer. The New York State Human Rights Law lists disability among the characteristics places of public accommodation may not discriminate on, and the New York City Human Rights Law covers public accommodations across the five boroughs.

We are not lawyers, and nothing here is legal advice. What we can give your counsel is a clear technical record. For New York organizations, whether a Buffalo manufacturer, a Long Island medical practice or a Manhattan law firm, we test the templates, forms and documents people actually use, map each issue to WCAG 2.1 AA and fix the highest-impact problems first. Editors keep adding pages, PDFs and video after launch, so we also help you plan regular retesting to keep that record current. Details are on our website accessibility services page.

It is difficult to put into a review just how much we have valued this partnership. They have gone far beyond being a vendor to the Tarrant County Bar Association — they have become genuine supporters of our organization and the work we do. They have worked with us on everything from building our public-facing legal help website to guiding us through a complete rebranding and logo redesign. With every project, they take the time to understand our organization, our members, our mission, and what we are actually trying to accomplish rather than simply delivering a product. But what has impressed me most is how invested they have become in our success. They show up. They attend our events. They celebrate our wins. They bring us new ideas and look for ways they can help. When we work with them, it truly feels like we have another team in our corner. Our Bar Association is better because of this relationship, and I don't say that lightly. They have consistently gone above and beyond for us, and I am incredibly grateful for the creativity, responsiveness, enthusiasm, and genuine care they bring to everything they do. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

EVERNET has played a pivotal role in our business growth. They have been a fantastic partner over the last year, doing everything from rebuilding our website to managing our IT difficulties to improving our internal processes. They took care of a lot of the headaches that come with small business ownership, which allowed me to focus on doing the work I love and getting more clients through the door. If your business needs help in marketing, IT, or security, I cannot recommend them enough.

Questions before you get started.

Do accessibility overlays make a site compliant?

No. Overlays do not fix underlying code and have been named in lawsuits. We fix issues at the source.

Which standard do you test against?

WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard referenced by the ADA Title II rule and most legal settlements.

How long does an audit take?

Typically two to four weeks for a small to midsize site, depending on templates and document volume.

Can you fix a site you did not build?

Yes. We work in WordPress, Elementor and most common platforms, and coordinate with your developer where needed.

Do you meet in person across New York?

Web and marketing work is location-independent. In-person sessions in New York are scheduled when they help; most clients work with us remotely.
