Acronis Cloud Storage for offsite backup copies
Acronis Cloud Storage is the hosted storage that Acronis backup products send data to. Acronis is a data protection and cybersecurity company with headquarters in Switzerland and Singapore. Home users reach this storage through Acronis True Image, and businesses usually reach it through Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, which service providers use to back up computers, servers, virtual machines and Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace data. Acronis runs data centers in many countries, so customers can usually choose the region where backups are stored.
Where it fits
Cloud storage gives you an offsite copy of your backups, which matters when a fire, theft or ransomware attack takes out local systems. Many organizations follow a pattern of keeping a fast local copy for everyday restores and a cloud copy for disasters. Acronis Cloud Storage fits that cloud role for anyone already using Acronis software. It is not a file-sharing service like OneDrive or Dropbox. It holds backup archives that you restore through the Acronis tools, from single files up to a full machine image.
How EVERNET helps
We help you decide how much data needs to go offsite, how long to keep it and which region to store it in. Setup covers backup plans, encryption, schedules that do not slow down the workday, retention rules and alerts when a job fails. We run test restores, because a backup is only useful if you can get the data back. For larger data sets we plan the first upload so it does not overwhelm your internet connection. We also monitor jobs and storage use as part of ongoing support. Learn more about our backup and disaster recovery and business continuity planning services.
Before you start
- Data: List the servers, computers and cloud accounts that hold business data, and how much each holds.
- Recovery goals: Decide how much data you can afford to lose and how quickly each system must be back online.
- Location: Check whether contracts or regulations require data to stay in a particular country.
- Account ownership: Make sure the business, not one employee, controls the Acronis account and its billing.
- Security settings: Use a strong encryption password stored in a company password manager, and turn on multi-factor sign-in. A lost encryption password cannot be recovered.
Questions before you get started.
Is the requirement direct-business Cyber Protect or a service-provider Cyber Protect Cloud deployment?
Identify whether the intended product is direct-business Acronis Cyber Protect or a service-provider Cyber Protect Cloud environment. Those names describe different offering contexts. Review the actual account, selected package and workload requirements before planning configuration, administration or a connection to other security and backup tools.
Which backup, security and recovery responsibilities must be explicitly assigned?
Assign owners for backup configuration, security review, routine monitoring and recovery decisions. Define which actions require business approval and how exceptions are escalated. Test representative scenarios in the selected Acronis environment so each responsibility has a practical procedure and the organization understands who acts when attention is needed.
